Underground Will never die
Now that the bigger ego’s and money have taken notice to us electronic producers, we will get what we want, but it comes with a price. I spoke with the head of a new LA based managing/booking group for electronic producers, and I was left speechless by the size of his ego. This companies are really people who know how to make money in the industry, and now they see the opportunity in the electronic producers. It all ends up coming back to money and buisness. You will hear things like “its about supporting electronic music” but the reality is it is already growing in support and these people are trying to jump on the bandwagon to get paid. There are people like Starborn Prod. in Seattle, Moontribe here in LA and Tribe 13 and Adam Ohana in SF, who have been working and donating time and energy to promote electronic music culture. So beware of the salesman and do your research. Also props to the Do Lab who have been working to promote a underground culture in LA…As a producer you need a good booking agent, but take your time and do your research. Find someone who has time for you, and remember you are the producer and they work for you………….Stay tuned for my series on up and coming producers…..
